
Leona Emma Neubauer Smith

Leona Emma Neubauer Smith, 77, Omro, formerly of Wautoma, died on
Saturday evening, Feb. 27, 2010, peacefully at her home in Omro.
Leona was born on Aug. 21, 1932 in Berlin, the daughter of August and
Hattie (Manske) Neubauer.
In her younger years while growing up she had worked and helped her
parents and family out on the farm.
She married Robert John Smith in 1988 and they had 22 great years
together. They had lived in Wautoma for some time and then moved to Omro
in 2000.
She was employed by the Wilson-Hurd Manufacturing Company of Berlin for
30 years as an inspector. Leona loved to go shopping, and was also fond
of gardening and sewing. She was a great wife and partner to her
husband, Bob. Leona was a quiet lady that helped people in special ways
so that no one made a fuss over it.
She was a former member of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church of Fairburn and
a member of the Zion Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her beloved husband Robert, Omro, one son, Don
Ward, Janesville, one brother Arnold (Pat) Neubauer, Wisconsin Rapids,
also several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Walter and one
sister, Irene.
Relatives and friends called at the Wiecki-Skipchak Funeral Home of
downtown Berlin on Friday, March 5, 2010 from 10 to 11 a.m.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with
the Pastor Gregory Sluke officiating and burial followed beside her
mother in the Saint Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery of Fairburn.
John R. Wiecki-Skipchak Funeral Home served the family.

Marion “Grace” Kosterman
March 30, 1917-Feb. 27, 2010
Marion “Grace” (nee: Zierk) “Ma K.” Kosterman, 92, passed away
peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010 in Racine.
Marion Grace was born in Racine on March 30, 1917 to the late Walter and
Grace (nee: Lonergan) Zierk. On June 28, 1941 in Holy Name Catholic
Church, she was united in marriage with Albert N. Kosterman Sr., who
preceded her in death on April 10, 1994.
Grace was an extremely proud and tireless homemaker for her and Albert’s
nine children. She was a lifetime member of St. Richard of Chichester
Catholic Church, formerly Holy Name, where she was involved with the
Christian Mothers and Altar Society. Grace was also an active volunteer
for St. Catherine’s High School and the DeKoven Foundation. Among her
interests, she was an accomplished reader and loved to dance –
especially to the music of the Roaring 20’s.
In retirement, Grace and Albert loved to spend time, particularly in the
company of their entire family, at their home on Gilbert Lake in Wild
Rose.
Surviving are her children, Mary (Dave) Gobis, Racine; Tom (Diane)
Kosterman, Waupaca; Judy (John) Melcher, Albert (Vicki) Kosterman Jr.,
and Jim (Debbie) Kosterman, all of Racine; Karen Kosterman-Clever,
Sausalito, CA; Richard (Cathy) Kosterman of Caledonia; and Betty (Don)
Kusserow, Wild Rose; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one
great-great-grandson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too
numerous to mention by name. In addition to her parents and husband,
Grace was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Joan Raschke.
Funeral services were held in Racine on Tuesday, March 9, 2010.
Emma T. Weeks
April 6, 1905-March 3, 2010
Emma T. Weeks, 104, Wautoma, passed away March 3, 2010 at Silver Lake
Manor.
She was born April 6, 1905 to the late H. Martin and Thora (Hesness)
Engelbretson. She was baptized and confirmed in the West Holden Lutheran
Church and continued her membership there until May 26, 1968, when she
transferred her membership to the Hope Lutheran Church in Wautoma. She
attended the rural Lovdahl School, graduating in June of 1919. She was a
graduate of the Waushara County Teachers Training School, graduating in
June of 1922.
Following graduation, she was a Waushara County rural school teacher
until the time of her marriage. On Nov. 25, 1926 she married Marvin F.
Weeks. He preceded her in death Sept. 21, 1989.
She and her husband spent most of their life on the farm where they
worked together on her husband’s various projects. In her spare time,
she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading, some artwork and her several
hobbies.
Survivors include two daughters, Virginia (the late, Gaylord) Brunner,
Greendale and Geraldine (Richard) Burgess, Madison; five grandsons, Paul
Burgess, New Albin, IA, Steven Burgess, Madison, John (Sharon) Brunner,
Cudahy, Mark Brunner, Greendale, Timothy (Becky) Brunner, South
Milwaukee, and one granddaughter, Hollis Jane (Bruce Salzman) Brunner,
Mequon; four great grandchildren, Jennifer (Eliseo), Beth, Sean (Lisa)
and Dan (Andrea); three great-great grandchildren, Laila, Gavin and
Fiona; one niece, Joanne (Dr. Charles) Pace, Portage. She is further
survived by other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents,
sisters Bertha C. Merker and Selma A. Marcy, an infant brother, Charlie,
a nephew, Harlo Hanneman and a son-in-law, Gaylord Brunner.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010 at
Leikness Funeral Home, Wautoma with the Rev. Nathan A. Gauerke
officiating. The soloist was Lee Bendixen who sang two hymns, “Just a
Closer Walk with Thee,” and “Going Home.” She was laid to rest next to
her husband in the Wautoma Union Cemetery. To honor Mrs. Week’s wishes,
there will be no visitation. The pallbearers were John Brunner, Paul
Burgess, Mark Brunner, Steven Burgess, Timothy Brunner and Holly
Brunner.

Amanda J. Howard, 47, Plainfield, entered eternal rest on Friday, Feb.
26, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.
Amanda was born Feb. 26, 1963 in Chicago, IL, daughter of Jessie and
Dorothy (Lake) Jones. She married James Howard on June 13, 1992 in
Chicago. She had been employed by Del Monte Foods, Plover, for 15 years.
She is survived by her husband, James; three sons, Wayne and Jason
Jones, and Kenneth McElhaney, all of Plainfield; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and one sister.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the
First Baptist Church in Plainfield. Pastor Thomas Gaudet officiated.

Lisa Marie Nelson
Dec. 22, 1964-March 6, 2010

take your breath away.”
Lisa Marie Nelson, 45, Redgranite and Oshkosh, passed away peacefully on
March 6, 2010, surrounded by family after a long hard journey.
She was born in Oshkosh Dec. 22, 1964, to Pam and James Eberhart.
In her free time she enjoyed fishing, crafting, playing bingo and
cribbage as well as watching the Packers. She was also a very devoted
committee member for Jakefest Inc.
Lisa will be remembered for her sharp tongue and outrageous sense of
humor. Above all, her most important roles included; mother, daughter,
sister, aunt, grandmother and friend.
God knew that you were suffering and knew you needed a rest, he broke
our heart to prove he only takes the best.
Lisa is survived by her parents; Bill and Pam Nelson, daughters; Amber
(David) Taylor, Lacey(Adam) Harrington, brother; Eric Nelson, grandsons;
Elijah and Jonnah Taylor, Carson and Keagan Freeman, granddaughter;
Emily Harrington, nephews; Jacob and Adam Nelson, niece; Katia Nelson,
step-nephews; Corey and Derek Mills and step-niece; Heather Mills.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 20, from 1-6
p.m. at the First Chance Saloon, corner of Hwy. 21 and Cty. Rd. EE.
A memorial has been established.

Jennifer K. Benge, 46, Wild Rose, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2010
in Wild Rose. She was born June 13, 1963 in Chicago, IL; daughter of
Robert Benge and Gladys Essenmacher.
Jennifer was a member of the Wild Rose Hospital Auxiliary.
She was a very caring person and had many friends in Wild Rose. When
Jennifer was well, she enjoyed cooking and getting herself ready,
make-up and all. She will be deeply missed by all of her family and
friends.
Jennifer is survived by: mother: Gladys (George) Essenmacher, Wild Rose;
children: Jessica Lamar, Sacramento, CA and Kiel Lamar, Sacramento, CA;
sisters: Kathie (Stephen) Zywczak, Wild Rose and Mary (Bill) Close,
Chicago, IL; brothers: David (Lisa) Benge, Wylie, TX, John Essenmacher,
Chicago, IL, and Mike (Maria) Essenmacher, Franklin Park, IL; and uncle:
Dr. Albert (Cecile) Lemons, Bar Mills, ME.
She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many
friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Benge; a sister, Diane
Rosenbrock; and a brother, Donald Baker.

Guadalupe O'Matta
Aug. 14, 1918-March 3, 2010
Guadalupe O’Matta, 91, Coloma, passed away peacefully on Wednesday,
March 3, 2010 at his home.
He was born Aug. 14, 1918 in San Antonio, TX. He married Maria de la Luz
Ortega on Jan. 17, 1976 in Adams-Friendship.
Guadalupe was a member of the United States Navy, proudly serving in WW
II, U.S. Naval Reserves, Coloma Lions Club, and was an active member of
St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Wautoma. He also served as a Mason and a
4th Degree Knights of Columbus. Guadalupe was a communication engineer
and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Maria de la Luz; five daughters, Olga
(Gabriel) Garza, Diane (Tom) Davis, Rosalinda Ibanez, Raquel (Patrick
Sr.) Manning and Madicela Ibanez; five sons, Robert (Pat) Mata,
Guadalupe “Lupe” (Alma) Mata, Frank “Poncho” (Leo) Mata, Daniel (special
friend, Julie) O’Matta and Ernestino “Tino” (special friend, Sherry)
Pineda; 34 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; other relatives and
friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clementa and Luisa
Mata; two sisters, Clementina and Felciana; three brothers, Miguel, Jose
and Daniel; two sons and two grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass for Guadalupe will be held Saturday, March 13, 2010 at
11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Wautoma, which will be followed
by full military honors and a potluck luncheon. A visitation will be
held on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the church
which will include a rosary service and a Native American drum ceremony.

Patrick Allen Fisher
June 15, 1959-Feb. 28, 2010
Patrick Allen Fisher, born June 15, 1959 to Carol (Hirst) and Edward
Fisher, died peacefully in his sleep at his residence on Feb. 28, 2010.
He is survived by his siblings, Kim Walters (William), Weyauwega,
Michael Fisher, Plover, and Penny Walters (Darryl Strothman), MD, and
two children who were adopted by his sisters, Levi Burke and Billie
Walters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Kathy Burke and
Sherry Viney.
His remains were cremated.
