Throughout the past few months, FCCLA members of Wautoma High School have been working hard on many community service projects. One of the biggest projects were the production of snuffle mats for the Waushara County Animal Shelter. Snuffle mats help the animals with their daily enrichment. FCCLA members worked hard to make the mats “DIY” style using anti fatigue mats and fleece. It was a fun and rewarding project. They hope the animals enjoy the mats and the fun activities that they will bring.
During the month of December, FCCLA has also been selling socks through the campaign WeHelpTwo. Over the last month, they have sold over 350 pairs of socks. Through the fundraiser, FCCLA was able to donate $600 to cover a club foot repair for a child in India.
Along with that, FCCLA is fortunate enough to be able to donate over 200 pairs of socks to the Hornet Market. The Hornet Market is the district’s food pantry that is located at Parkside Elementary School. FCCLA has been working closely with Tami Stansbury, the WASD Food Service Director and head of the Hornet Market, by volunteering on Tuesdays and Thursdays. FCCLA decided that there was no better option than to donate to the market so families all around Wautoma can have socks available to them.
