Body
Dawn Rosin is known around the community as a kind and loving individual. After a positive breast cancer diagnosis, family and friends knew they had to help. A benefit for her is set to be held on Saturday, Feb. 17 at the Green Lake American Legion Hall (518 Water St., Green Lake) from 4-8 p.m. Proceeds from the benefit will all go towards offsetting the costs of Dawn’s medical bills.
The single mother of two received a positive breast cancer diagnosis of invasive ductal carcinoma, Nottingham Grade 2, Ductal carcinoma in-situ, intermediate grade, Estrogen and Progesterone Receptor Positive and HER 2 positive in August of 2023.
Prior to her diagnoses, Dawn had genetic testing done prior to a lumpectomy and the removal of six lymph nodes that returned negative results. Post-surgery, her tumor was re-tested and the results came back positive for HER 2. Positive HER 2 results mean her reoccurrence rate to the liver, lungs, and bones have went from less than 5% to over 30%. With this positive test, the treatment plan for Dawn has gotten a lot more extensive.
Dawn started her chemotherapy treatment on Oct. 25 and it will continue into February. Treatments take place every 21 days. After treatment is complete, Dawn will have to start a regimen of Herceptin every 21 days for 11 rounds. After Herceptin she will start radiation. The duration is unknown at this time until she completes her chemotherapy and visits a radiation oncologist.
Donations are being accepted for raffle prizes for the Dawn Rosin Benefit. Monetary donations are also accepted to help offset the expenses of the event. All proceeds from the benefit will be used to help with Dawn’s medical bills.
