Al Luchini, an employee of Waushara County for the past 18 years, has been named Waushara County’s Emergency Management Director/Procurement Officer. Luchini started his career with Waushara County EMS and after eight years he transferred to the Waushara County Child Support Agency for two years and for the past eight years he has been with the Waushara County District Attorney’s Office.

He also has 20 years experience as a firefighter with the Wild Rose Fire District, has served as Fire Chief for the past 8 years and is a Hazardous Material Technical on the local Hazmat team.

As Emergency Manage-ment Director he is responsible for planning and leading the responses to natural disasters and other emergencies.  Luchini has worked with government agencies, nonprofits, private companies, and the public to develop effective plans that minimize damage and disruptions during an emergency.  He has also worked behind the scenes to coordinate and provide disaster preparedness training.  In the event to a natural disaster he said he will work with our local communities to help rebuild and compensate after a disaster.  He said he will also be a liaison between the public safety partners and Waushara County government.

Luchini said he will work with public safety partners and build relationships necessary to effective and efficiently respond to any emergency Waushara County may have.  He will make public safety the county’s number one priority while minimizing, through plans in place, the damage natural disasters cause. “Previous directors have built the foundation for me to build on and improve on to ensure Waushara County is prepared for these emergencies,” Luchini said.

“I will lead the way in the event of a natural disaster by setting up an Emergency Operations Center when needed working with our County, State, and Federal Government to ensure our County will recover and rebuild with the resources we need,” he said.  He said he will work closely with law enforcement, fire and EMS when these disasters are likely to occur and will reach out to local volunteer organizations and private sector partners for their assistance when available.  For weather emergencies he will closely monitor conditions and stay in close contact with Waushara County Communication cen-ter to assist them.
