One fatality reported in two-vehicle Green Lake County crash on May 6

On May 6 at appro-ximately 3:04 p.m., Green Lake County Sheriff’s E911 Communications Center received multiple 911 calls concerning a motor vehicle crash on CTH Q south of CTH X in the Town of Mackford.  Callers indicated that the crash was a head on crash, and involved a car and a semi.

        At 3:14 p.m., Emergency Response units began arriving on scene.  They were able to determine that there were in fact two vehicles involved and one occupant in the car was deceased.

A green sedan was northbound on CTH Q and the tractor trailer was traveling southbound on CTH Q.  The sedan suddenly entered the southbound lane and struck the tractor trailer head on.  The operator of the sedan (a 41yr old male) died as a result of the crash injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.  The tractor trailer operator (a 37yr old male) was transported to Waupun Hospital for minor injuries.  The vehicles came to rest in the east ditch, and remained there until the scene was cleared at 8:58 p.m.

Grand River Fire Department, Markesan Police Department, Markesan Emergency Government, and the Green Lake County Highway Department assisted at the scene. Wisconsin State Patrol was requested to assist in the investigation.  UW Med Flight was requested, but canceled prior to arrival.  CTH Q was closed for approximately six hours.  The highway was reopened shortly before 9 p.m.

 

This traffic crash is being investigated by the Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the Wisconsin State Patrol.  The investigation is ongoing.
