Wautoma is home to an amazing gem

Subhead

Dear Editor,

Wautoma is home to an amazing gem in the McComb-Bruchs PAC. Saturday night’s performance by the Hillbenders was a great example of what makes this gem shine!

When I saw a dobro, a banjo, and a mandolin in the lineup, I automatically thought “Rock and Roll”. Add in an acoustic guitar, a stand-up bass, and a drum kit, open the show with The Who’s classic My Generation, and I found myself smiling. And loving bluegrass musicians performing classic rock.

The Hillbenders displayed amazing vocal talent and fantastic musicianship playing a series of Who hits including Miles and Miles, Tommy, Behind Blue Eyes, and Teenage Wasteland, all without a synthesizer in sight.

The band switched gears and performed several great original songs for the last half of the show. I particularly liked On The Radio.

If you’ve never been to a show at the PAC, you’re missing out on some of the best, affordable entertainment anywhere. My appreciation to Josiah Tropp and the entire PAC board of directors for their efforts to keep the venue operating and for bringing such great talent to Wautoma.

Sincerely,

Craig Walker
