Character in Action Wautoma Area School District

Subhead

Members of the Wautoma Area School District Character Education Team have been working cooperatively to promote character education throughout the entire district. Each year the team is focused on improving the program and collaborating in order to build on what has been established during the previous years.

Since the fall of 2021, the Character Education Team members, WASD staff and WASD administrators have been working to plan the second District wide Character Education Day, which will be held Wednesday, Oct. 12. The theme of this special day is tied to the Homecoming theme, “Next Stop: Homecoming.”

In order to execute a day that would be beneficial for all students at every grade level as well as promote the District’s seven character traits, the WASD Character Education Team and Staff have been working side by side. Throughout the day, students will be “traveling” around their respective buildings to learn more about each character trait. At each destination, they will be attending assemblies, participating in activities, and interacting with special guests. In addition, students will also be taking part in community service projects throughout the remainder of the school year.

A big thank you goes out to all members of the WASD staff and community members who have dedicated to make this day one to remember for the students.

Over the past several years, Wautoma Area School District staff members have collaborated with the guidance counselors to promote character education throughout all four schools. The WASD Character Education Committee believes it is important and necessary for staff, students, parents, and community members to help instill these values in the next generation.
