Jeb Mueller, Wautoma, owner of Mueller Tax and Accounting, presented a check for $5,000 to the Waushara County Emergency Medical Service (EMS) unit Jan. 22.

The Waushara County Sheriff’s Department received 45,257 calls in 2014, with 39,138 administration/non-emergency calls, 6,119 emergency 911 calls, and 1,041 Emergency Medical Dispatch calls from July through December, Sheriff Jeff Nett highlighted in his 2014 annual report during the Jan.

Brian Freimark was unanimously elected as the new highway commissioner during the Jan. 20 regular meeting of the Waushara County Board of Supervisors. Freimark will replace Tom Dahlke who is retiring March 3 after serving 30 years with the county, including 15 years as highway commissioner.

Sophie Klimke, 5, Wautoma, won the Nordic Mountain Family Ski Pass grand prize during the Family Ski Day event held at Nordic Mountain on Jan. 25. The prize was donated by Nordic Mountain and the event was co-sponsored by Thrivent Financial and Adams-Columbia Electric.

Parishioners from area congregations donated gifts of offering and non-perishable food to support the Waushara County Food Pantry at the Thanksgiving Eve Ecumenical and Community Worship Service at Hope Lutheran Church, Wautoma, on Nov. 26.
