I recently retired as the Director of the Wisconsin Office of Aging. Prior to that I served as the Director of the Waushara County Department of Aging. I have been reading about the proposed nutrition site/meeting room at the new kitchen and thought perhaps a bit of history may be helpful to the discussion.
The bids for the proposed ‘new’ building for the Wautoma meal site will soon go out. At our membership meeting in April, the county board representatives stated that this was not a referendum issue. They also stated that they would be open to having an open community meeting to hear the voices of the taxpayers of Waushara County after the bids were received. I certainly hope that this is done prior to the vote whether to accept the donation or deny the donation. This building will have to be supported by tax payer’s dollars and we deserve to have our opinions heard about these costs.
