"I Love a Parade"
Tuesday, July 16, 2013 11:01 AM

I am writing today to respond to a letter in last week’s Argus, where concerns were expressed regarding the length of the parade in general, and the amount of talking done by the announcer in particular. Before responding, let me say that the Chamber and our new Executive Director did a great job getting entries for the parade. Parades are longer when more people want to participate. The parade also had delays so that American Flags, water, and popsicles could be distributed.

On behalf of the Wautoma Youth Baseball summer traveling teams, we would like to take this moment to thank the people involved who made the Wautoma Little Tournament a success on July 12 and 13 at Bird Creek Park.

Simonson family 57th year reunion
Tuesday, July 16, 2013 10:57 AM

Some of the descendants of the late Carl (Charles) and Inga Thompson Simonson met for the 57th year on July 14. This year the Mount Morris County Park was not used. It had been the choice place as the Simonson family once owned part of that property. With so few now attending, it was decided not to reserve it.

Neshkoro resident praises Community Choir performance
Tuesday, July 16, 2013 10:55 AM

After a month of hearing awful news of the 19 firefighters deaths out west, the conflict in Egypt, the airplane crash in San Francisco, along with some personnel stress, including fighting those dreaded mosquitoes, July 13 dawned with the expectation of “it’s the Neshkoro Community Choir performance tonight”.

Want to know where your tax dollars are being spent?
Tuesday, July 09, 2013 3:38 PM

You’ve all heard before, “get involved with your local governments.” If not directly as a representative, certainly at a minimum keep up with what’s going on by reading the minutes from your town, village, city, or county board meetings. My frustration level has peaked over the past few months with some of our representative’s decisions.

Wautoma visitors unhappy with 4th of July parade
Tuesday, July 09, 2013 3:36 PM

We buy the Argus weekly when we arrive in Wautoma from our home in Milwaukee. One of the things we like about coming to our cottage in Wautoma is the small town feel you all have.

Battles continue over high-capacity wells
Thursday, June 27, 2013 8:32 AM

To the editor,

This letter is about our ongoing 2+ year battle to stop the reckless, over-permitting of high capacity wells by the DNR, especially in our already severely water constricted Central Sands area, and to save valuable public waters of WI, including particularly, the precious Waushara lake I grew up on, Pleasant Lake.

Former foster child supports Foster Care System

To the editor,

I wanted to share my strong positive feelings about the Foster Care System in Waushara County. I am so very fortunate to have received past services from social workers who helped me survive in my childhood.

Our kids deserve better
Wednesday, June 12, 2013 5:47 AM

State Superintendent Tony Evers issued a statement on Joint Committee on Finance (JFC) middle of the night actions, including expansion of the school voucher program statewide.

“Our children are caught in the crossfire of an ideologically driven expansion of school vouchers that is financially reckless and academically unproven. The Joint Committee on Finance passed a backroom deal that harms our kids. It does too little to improve funding for public education and does nothing to address well-documented financial and achievement problems in private and religious schools in Wisconsin’s voucher programs.
