Services for veterans face uncertain future amid growing budget concerns

MADISON – A recent report from the Wisconsin Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) has revealed a growing structural deficit in the state’s Veterans Trust Fund. While the fund had a cash balance of $19.9 million in 2011, it is now projected to face a $46.1 million budget shortfall by 2019.

The Wautoma Area School Board approved five local businesses to their honor roll at their regular meeting held at the District Office on July 14.

The Wautoma area businesses selected for the District’s Honor Roll for the 2013-14 school year included: Martz Insurance, Reilly Motors, Dollar General, Shopko Hometown, and WAUH The Bug. Each of the selected businesses will receive a certificate and a plaque commemorating their contribution to the school district over the past school year.

Kwik Trip donates AED funding to Redgranite Fire Department

The Redgranite Fire Department recently received funds from Kwik Trip to purchase an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) for their main rescue unit. The fire department receives an average of 200-250 emergency calls per year and stressed that the AED will be used. Waushara County youth are working hard getting projects ready for the Waushara County Fair from Aug. 14-17. Their market animals will be judged at the fair and those qualifying will be offered for sale at the junior livestock auction on Saturday, Aug. 16 at 1 p.m. in the youth pavilion sale ring at the south end of the Waushara County Fairgrounds.
