Waushara County Fair Demo Derby

Luke the Drifter performs in Neshkoro Print E-mail

The entertainment the evening of June 21 was performed by Luke the Drifter, a group of two from the band The Urban Hillbillies. The father and daughter duo of Steve and Rachael Bergman performed to a crowd of around 60. The duo performed a variety of classic country, bluegrass, and original pieces during the hour and a half performance. The Urban Hillbillies are scheduled to perform at both the Marquette and Waushara County fairgrounds in July. The group’s booking agent, Bill Denkert, stated, “We are currently working on a booking for Country USA next year.” The band can be viewed at or contacted at 920-787-9087. The summer concerts are held every Friday at 7 p.m. under the gazebo in Neshkoro’s River’s Edge Park. The Neshkoro Enhancement Committee sponsors the concerts and they are scheduled to run through the entire summer. The last performance will be on Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. by the Oakridge Mennonite Church Choir.

Community Chorus holds last rehearsal before annual summer concert July 13 Print E-mail

The preparation for the annual Summer Community Chorus’ performance wrapped up on Thursday, June 20 at 7 p.m. Rehearsals and preparation have been underway since the completion of the Christmas performance held last year. They have held eight weekly rehearsals. Over 50 members will perform on Saturday, July 13 at 5 p.m. The free event will be held at St. James Place in Neshkoro.

Black Hawk Folk Society's 26th Annual Folk Festival Print E-mail

The Black Hawk Folk Society will present its 26th annual all-day Folk Festival at Mt. Morris Town Park on Saturday, July 13. The festival is held rain or shine. The rain site is the Mountain View Community Center.

The festival kicks off with an open mic from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. followed by performances by a number of professional and semiprofessional folk musicians from all over the Midwest and beyond. Bill Kehl returns as the Master of Ceremonies.

WhiskeyBelles to perform at Moose Inn July 5 Print E-mail

The WhiskeyBelles are an all-female traditional country and Americana trio featuring pitch-perfect three-part harmonies and their own hot fiddle, guitar and bass playing. The group consists of Chrissy Dzioba - vocals and acoustic Guitar, Sara Moilanen - vocals and bass guitar, and Kimberly Unger - vocals and fiddle.

The ‘Belles have personalities as big as the Texan skyline. They have a great time on stage, and love to share the fun with their audience. They released their debut album, “Whiskey Woman,” on July 29, 2012 kicking off a full schedule of summer gigs, including coveted opening slots for country stars Montgomery Gentry, Kentucky Headhunters and The Lost Trailers.
