You may have noticed that the bees and hornets are very active and aggressive as the summer comes to an end and we enter the fall. Their food sources are declining and they are seeking sweet meals. They commonly will try to share your food or drink. This increases your chances of being stung. Bee stings are a common cause of emergency room and doctor’s office visits. Come to the Waushara County Public Health Department on Oct. 31 from 9 a.m.-Noon and 1-4 p.m. and get your flu shot before you get sick with the flu. There is a cost, but the health department can bill Medicare and MA.

Oct. 20-26 is National Radon Action Week according to the U.S. EPA.

Health agencies throughout the United States have joined forces to promote awareness of the leading cause of lung cancer for non-smokers. The  American Lung Association, Centers for Disease Control, and National Cancer Institute all agree that radon is a national health problem and encourage radon testing during the October awareness drive.
