How are you sleeping?

A healthy lifestyle includes adequate sleep. Sleep is an essential part of everyone’s life. We spend about one third of our life sleeping. Sleep requirements differ for different individuals and different age groups. According to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, infants need 16 to 18 hours of sleep per day, preschool age children 11 to 12 hours, school age at least 10 hours, teens 9 to 10 hours, while adults need 7 to 9 hours.

Why did CHN affiliate?

The previous articles I have submitted focused on medical issues that I thought people might be interested in. I have tried to provide accurate information to increase readers’ knowledge about health related subjects. However, this article will be different in that it will discuss some of the challenges and changes that are affecting health care delivery and specifically how these challenges have led to some recent changes in our community hospital. Specifically, I would like to discuss the newly formed relationship between Thedacare and Community Health Network (CHN). Hopefully, I can explain it in a way that will help you to see that this is a necessary move and will be good for the community.

According to research done on the preventable causes of death in the US, physical inactivity is the fourth leading risk factor behind smoking, high blood pressure and obesity. Physical inactivity is more of a risk than high cholesterol.

Emergency care

Unfortunately, illness and injury can happen at any time. Fortunately, emergency care is available in most locations. Most hospitals have emergency room staff to care for emergencies 24/7. Emergency room care can be very expensive. How does a person know if they need emergency room care?

Recently, Community Health Network orthopedic surgeon, David Jones, MD, refined total knee replacement surgery by being the first in the state of Wisconsin to perform an automated robotic computer-assisted total knee arthroplasty.
