At the Aug. 20 Redgranite Village Board meeting, the board approved Quarry Clean-Up Day be scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 14. Diver’s Realm, Inc., Appleton, will once again take the lead in the annual clean-up event; however, they are asking for volunteers from the community to assist with the clean-up project.  The board approved providing a dumpster to assist in the project on Sept. 14 and also approved a port-a-potty rental from Wautoma Rental.

Prior to the annual meeting, held at the Wautoma High School Library, the Wautoma School Board held the budget hearing. District Administrator Jeff Kasuboski presented the budget to those present. The budget was approved during the annual meeting.

State Representative Paul Tittl (R-Manitowoc) has introduced a bill to raise the maximum speed limit from 65 to 70 miles per hour on freeways and expressways.

 
Waushara County Board hears update on Wautoma standoff incident Print E-mail

The Waushara County Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, Aug. 20 at the courthouse in Wautoma. Waushara County Sheriff Dave Peterson commented on what is happening in law enforcement. He updated the board on the incident with the high-speed chase and armed robbery on Aug. 14 and let them know that the investigations are not complete yet. The two officers who discharged their firearm were put on administrative leave as according to protocol. They are being limited as to what they can be involved in, once they return, to make sure that they are okay first. They are looking into robberies in the area to see if the suspect was involved with those as well, although it does look highly likely.

The Friends of the White River Association held their annual meeting on Aug. 17 on the shores of Neshkoro’s Millpond. Those in attendance quickly wanted notice made to the community that the waters of the millpond are unsafe for swimmers and pets. The sometimes-deadly growth of blue green algae has been found in the waterway.
