Wautoma School Board discusses road construction conerns Print E-mail

The Wautoma School Board met on Aug. 12 in the Wautoma High School Library. Concerns came from Riverview Elementary Principal Ann Fajfer about the construction on Division Street. Approximately 120 children are dropped off and picked up every day and the roads, currently a mess, won’t be done by the time school starts. School board members and teachers plan to meet with the contractors and city officials to come up with a plan. Reassurance came from board president Dave Peterson when he said, “They (the contractors) did what they said they’d do for the fair in terms of the roads.”

Wild Rose Village Board appoints interim trustee Print E-mail

The Wild Rose Village Board appointed a replacement for a trustee during the Aug. 7 meeting.

Mark Davies will serve as an interim trustee on the board for the remainder of Matt Reinke’s term, which is up in April 2014. Reinke has been absent form meetings due to employment obligations, and he has moved out of the Wild Rose area.

 
City approves sale of parking lot to county Print E-mail

At the Aug. 12 Wautoma City Council meeting, the council approved the sale of the former Wautoma Hotel parking lot to Waushara County, for the price of $1, with the stipulation that the county pave the lot, maintain the lot, and not post signs that restrict or limit any parking area or individual stalls.  In addition, the city stipulated that, in the event of a large snowstorm, the city be allowed to temporarily use a portion of the lot to pile snow until it can be removed.

PTS Contractors, Inc. had two crews working on sanitary sewer and storm sewer construction last week.  Crew #1 installed 1,286 feet of sanitary sewer and three manholes on Fair Street from the intersection of Division Street to Elm Street.  Eight existing sanitary sewer laterals were replaced on this section in conjunction with the sanitary sewer construction.

The namesake of the Village of Neshkoro, “The Old Mill Town,” Neshkoro’s Millpond, appears to be headed in a backwards direction. The Friends of The White River Association has announced that their weed cutting program and any further attempts to clean the body of water has come to an end.

Coloma Village Board discusses emergency generator at July meeting Print E-mail

The Coloma Village Board meeting was held on Thursday, July 25 at 6:30 p.m.  The board discussed a generator hook up for the community center.  This hook up would allow electricity to be available if there is an emergency in the area.  It also is an additional place, besides the fire department, that will be used in an emergency.  Comments were made that the community center is better equipped to house people in case of an emergency.
