Neshkoro Lion host another successful Ice Fishing Derby Print E-mail

The frigid temperatures that were recently felt throughout the area receded just in time to allow for a wonderful day on the ice in Neshkoro. Despite the roads being iced over from the Jan. 10 rain and ice storm, nearly one hundred ice fishermen, women, and kids took to the ice on Neshkoro’s Mill Pond to participate in the Neshkoro Lions Club’s 39th annual ice derby on Jan. 11.

A new Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Public Access Lands Atlas is now available online and in a printable format. The atlas highlights the significant increase in public access to Wisconsin lands made possible through the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program, as well as other lands open to the public for outdoor recreation.

The results of the first Waushara Area Chamber of Commerce Big Buck Contest are in, with a tie for first place between Jordan Reilly, Wautoma, and Dan Bray, Wautoma. Reilly and Bray each receive $150.  Third place of $75 goes to Jason Westphal, Waupun; 4th place with $25 and a Fish Fry to Oakwood in Wild Rose, goes to Tom Hjelmberg, Omro. Bonus prizes go to Tom Cotter - $25 Blader’s Dakota Inn gift certificate and Fish Fry at Oakwood in Wild Rose; Steven Johannes II-$25 Blader’s Dakota Inn gift certificate; and Chris Peterson wins a 2014 opening weekend stay at Knights Inn in Redgranite.

Fox Valley Technical College, in collaboration with Central Wisconsin Trout Unlimited, is offering a fly fishing and tying class that will meet eight times and feature six classroom sessions, a casting seminar, and an on-stream guided fly fishing experience.
