Despite being way down in the first half of play, the Wild Rose Wildcats staged a second half comeback to beat the Montello Hilltoppers 60-53 in boys’ basketball semi-regional action Feb. 28 in Montello.

During the final home game of the regular season, the Lady Hornets were up against neighboring rival Wild Rose. The game was all about defense with both teams excelling in steals, blocks and rebounds throughout the game.

On Feb. 21, the Tri-County Penguins boys basketball team traveled to Bowler to do battle with the Panthers. It has been a rough season for the Penguins and they were hoping to go out on a high note. Tri-County got their wish with a much needed win 50 to 37 over Bowler. They guys really played hard from start to finish. Everyone contributed and it was a nice way to close out the conference season.

The Tri-County Varsity Girls Basketball team traveled to Port Edwards for their Playoff game. The Lady Penguins were coming off a 6 game winning streak, and hoping this would give them the momentum needed to defeat No. 2 in the conference the Port Edwards Blackhawks. Tri-County fought hard but was edged out by Port Edwards 34 to 32.

Boys’ basketball tournament play against Markesan is always extra tough, and it looked like Wild Rose was up to the challenge on March 1, but in the end fell short of the regional final goal, 54-49, in Markesan.
