Jack Homer Reed, 82, Wautoma, died on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Wild Rose Hospital. He was born on April 7, 1932 in Burdine, KY, to Thomas and Delcie (Gouge) Reed.

Jack served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1949 to 1952 and was honorably discharged. On Oct. 4, 1952, he married Helen Galloway in Kingsport, TN. Jack worked for Local 1003 in Indianapolis, IN, as a Millwright until his retirement. Jack loved hunting with his dogs, Julie and Joe, watching birds, western movies and listening to country music. Jack especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jack is survived by his wife of 61 years: Helen Reed; daughter: Donna Schimelpfenig; grandchildren: Jason Schimelpfenig, Heather (Dale) Livingston, Brandon (Linda Her) Schimelpfenig, Adam (Kaylyn) Schimelpfenig, Clinton (Angie) Schimelpfenig; great grandchildren: Dylan Schimelpfenig, Jason Schi-melpfenig II, Amber Smith, Jenna Smith, Hannah Smith, Levi Schimelpfenig, Marlin Schimelpfenig, Jolynn (ex-pected great granddaughter); beloved pet: Chachi; sisters: Janice Fields, Judy Gilpin; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather: Robert Hillman Sr.; sisters: Ann Creed, Mary Wright, Sandra Redden; and brothers: Blaine Reed and Robert Hillman Jr.

Visitation was held Aug. 28 at Leikness Funeral Home and again on Aug. 29 until the time of funeral services at Hope Lutheran Church. Pastor Nathan Gauerke officiated the service. Burial was held at Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Wautoma, with Military Honors accorded by American Legion Post #317 and the U.S. Army Honors Team.
