Eldon Lawrence Gilgann Print E-mail

Nov. 25, 1924-July 25, 2014

Eldon Lawrence Gilgann, 89, Wautoma, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2014 at his home. He was born on Nov. 25, 1924 in the Town of Crystal Lake to Paul and Ananda (Schwanke) Gilgann.

Eldon was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church in Budsin and confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Germania. He married June Klimke on June 10, 1950 in Harrisville.

Eldon worked as a farmer, milk hauler for Shields Creamery, truck driver for Brakebush Brothers, an O.T.R. driver for Ross Caves and Westfield Equipment. After retiring he drove truck for 11 years at Apollo Tool.

Survivors include: his daughter, Linda Gilgann, Neshkoro; four grandchildren: Jocelyn (Sean Hulbert) Cartwright, Montello; Angela (Clint) Schumacher, Chatfield, MN; Alonzo (Sam Dahlke) Cartwright, Montello; and Susan Cartwright, Neshkoro; great grandson: Dean Carter Schumacher; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: June; daughter: Susan Marie on Aug. 26, 1983 and her fiancé, Boyd Spikerman on Jan. 29, 1984; five brothers: Fred, Gust, Elmer, Edward, and Ervin; and three sisters: Leona, Evaline and Erna.

Visitation and funeral service for Eldon was held on July 29 at St. John Lutheran Church, Harrisville, with Rev. Blaine Niskanen officiating. Burial was in Harrisville Cemetery.
