James (Jim) Robert Meyers Print E-mail

Oct. 20, 1934-June 19, 2014

James Robert Meyers, 79, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on Oct. 20, 1934 the son of Edson and Aileen (Oren) Meyers.

He grew up on the East side of Madison graduating from East High School in 1953. He married Minolla (Toni) Walker and together they raised four children. Jim was employed with the State of Wisconsin highway department retiring after 34 years of service. He and Toni then moved to the Hancock area where they have resided for the past 17 years. Jim loved nature and the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, feeding the deer and the birds. He was an excellent bowler in his younger years and remained an avid golfer.  Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years: Minolla (Toni); his daughters, Leana (David) Guelzow, Cottage Grove; Karla (Klaus) Perkins, Hancock; Diana Albrecht, Oregon; and son, Raymond, Gillette, WY.  He is further survived by eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and  many nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Gerald and William; his sister, Mary Lou Schneider; a step-grandson; extended family members; and dear lifelong friends.

Funeral services will be held on at Gunderson East Funeral Home, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at noon, on Friday, June 27, 2014. Burial will take place at the Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, we request donations be made to Agrace HospiceCare, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711, in our father’s name.
