June A. Caves, 95, Kenosha, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014 at Country View in Oak Creek. June was born on May 8, 1918 in Fond du Lac to Arthur and Lucy (Gloede) Wihsmann and she graduated from Fond du Lac High School in 1935. She graduated from the State Teacher’s College of Oshkosh with honors in 1942.

June was a former president of Gamma Sigma Sorority and a member of Phi Beta Sigma, an honorary fraternity in education and Kappa Delta Pi. She taught first grade in the Madison and Kenosha School Districts for three years from 1942-1945. On June 26, 1944 in Fond du Lac she married Kermit Caves and the couple moved to Kenosha. She was a homemaker and a volunteer, she was a board member to the Family Counseling Center from 1968-1974 and she volunteered at the local hospital.

June and Kermit were avid travelers and she enjoyed fishing and playing bridge. For decades they made annual trips to Kauai (Hawaiian Islands) and Scotland. June was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Wautoma and Trinity Lutheran Church in Kenosha.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Kermit in 1999; her son: Kim in 1992; a daughter-in-law: Linda (Nielson) Caves in 2013; and her sister: Marie Geisler in 1998. June is survived by: two granddaughters: Joy, San Jose, CA; and Allison, Porterfield; and a great niece: Gigi Coleman, Madison.

In honoring June’s wishes, no funeral or visitation will be held. Any condolences to the family can be sent directly to the funeral home.
