Organ and tissue donations:
Saving lives after death
The need for organ and tissue donations is great. According to UW Health, more than 116,000 people in the US are waiting for an organ transplant. Every day, 11 people will be added to that transplant waiting list, and 19 people will die waiting for an organ that is necessary for their survival. UW Health holds the third largest Transplant Program in the nation, yet more than 2,000 people in Wisconsin still await an organ transplant.
