He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter: (unnamed); his son: Duane Franklin Shepard; and his grandson: Corey Casper.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 11 a.m. at the Poy Sippi United Methodist Church. Rev. George Groves will officiate with burial to follow at the Pine River Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Holly Funeral Home in Wild Rose, and again on Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
