Marlin H. Zellmer, 75, Montello, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 22, 2014 at his home. Marlin was born in Montello to Paul and Irene (Pischke) Zellmer on July 6, 1938. He was a 1956 graduate of Montello High School and later married Barbara Groskreutz on Dec. 13, 1958 in Milwaukee at Bethel Lutheran Church.

Marlin managed automotive service stations in the Milwaukee area from 1961 until 1986 and from 1987 until 2002 he was a salesman selling pressure washers.  He was an active member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, serving on the audit committee and also sat on the Board of Directors for the Polka Hall of Fame. Marlin enjoyed spending time in the woods, listening to polka music, traveling in his motorhome and feeding the birds. Without question the most important thing in Marlin’s life was his family, those memories will never be forgotten.

Marlin leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Barbara, and five children: Steve (Debra), Oconomowoc; Scott (Jacqueline), Richfield; John (Heidi), Cedarburg; Jerry (Natalie), Oconomowoc; and Julie (Mark) Lynch, Slinger. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren: Stephanie (Craig) Lindsey, Sarah (Bryan) Witterholt, Stevie, Michael (Ariel), Daniel, Zach, Ben, Aaron, Jason (Becca), Nicole and Tyler Zellmer and Kayla and Lyndsay Lynch, as well as six great-grandchildren:  Caitlin, Brock, Sariah, Saranda, Ava and Hunter.  Marlin is further survived by his brother: Paul (Lois), Montello; sister: Carol (Paul) Koester, West Allis; sister-in-law: Alice Zellmer, Montello; and many other relatives and dear friends.

Marlin is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers: Lloyd (Delores) and Howard.

A funeral service for Marlin was held on Monday, Jan. 27 at 11:30 a.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montello. Visitation was held from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Pastor Pete Zietlow officiated and following the traditional service, Marlin was cremated. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
