Richard W. Hetzel, 85, Nekoosa, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 at the House of Dove in Marshfield.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 from 4 until 6 p.m. at Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home in Nekoosa.  Burial will be at a later date at the Plainfield Cemetery.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.ritchayfuneralhome.com.

Richard was born April 1, 1928 in Wisconsin Rapids to Harlow and Margaret (Fields) Hetzel. He married Jean Friday on Oct. 5, 1952 in Harrison, AK.  She died June 13, 2012.

Richard served in the US Navy during World War II and the Korean War.  He was employed by the Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune as a linotype operator and later at Larson Canning Company in Green Bay.

He is survived by six children: Mark Hetzel, Bancroft; Tim (Nancy) Hetzel, Bancroft; Randy (Pam) Hetzel, Rudolph; Dan Hetzel, Bancroft; Julie (special friend Ken) Billman, Green Bay; and Marge (Donn) Brown, Adams; 10 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one sister: Jeanne Johnson, Hancock.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Jean; brother in-law: Gaynes Johnson; and son in-law: Therman Billman.
