Susan E. Konecke Print E-mail

June 20, 1940 - Nov. 15, 2013

Susan E. Konecke, 73, Wild Rose, formerly of Waupaca, passed away Friday, Nov. 15, 2013.  She was born on June 20, 1940 in LaCrosse, the daughter of Stanley and Bernetta (Madsen) Peterson.  Susan married Brig Konecke on July 7, 1962 at the Middle Coon Valley Lutheran Church in Chaseburg, WI.

Susan and Brig moved their family to Waupaca in 1968.  She worked 27 years as a secretary for Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca.  During her years in Waupaca, Susan was blessed to be able to share her love of music by leading the children’s choir and playing the organ for church services.  After retiring, Susan and Brig became active members of Scandinavia Lutheran Church where she continued to play organ, lead the adult choir, and teach Vacation Bible School.  In her pastime, she enjoyed the thrill of the hunt and finding that perfect piece to add to one of her many “collections.”

Susan is survived by her children: Brig (Jessica) Konecke, Jr., Seattle, WA; Andreen (Mark) Kjentve, Wild Rose; grandchildren: Alayna and Garrik Kjentvet and Kai and Nils Konecke; sister: Kathryn (Sidney) Foster of Dawsonville, GA; brother: Stuart (Bonnie) Peterson of Chaseburg;  and two sisters-in-law: Edith Peterson, Chaseburg; and Marylou Mitchell, Florida.   She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother: Stanley; and a nephew: Daryl Peterson.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23 at the Scandinavia Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Sabin and Pastor Eugene Gauerke officiating.  A visitation will be held on Friday evening, Nov. 22, from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca and again on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.  Interment will be at Middle Coon Valley Cemetery in Chaseburg at a later date.

A memorial has been established in the name of Susan E. Konecke.

The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with the arrangements.
