May 6, 1928 - Oct. 31, 2013

On Oct. 31, 2013, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grand- mother and friend was called to put down her cares and burdens to rest in eternity with her Lord and Savior.

LaVerne was born May 6, 1928 on a farm near Germania, the daughter of Otto and Ella (Muehrer) Hell.

LaVerne graduated from Westfield High School in 1946 and pursued her dream of being a teacher at Waushara County Teacher’s College graduating in 1948 and later also graduating from UW-Stevens Point in 1968. She taught for 30 years in schools in the Wautoma area, finishing her teaching at Dafoe Elementary School, though she never really finished teaching.

On July 3, 1948 LaVerne married the love of her life, Arden Pomplun, and together they created a wonderful life for themselves and their four children. Her greatest joy was seeing her family grow.

LaVerne spent her life caring for others and giving herself in countless ways by being involved with and very active in Hope Lutheran Church, Orphan Grain Train organization, Wautoma Kiwanis, Department of Aging and Habitat for Humanity.

She gave herself to all who needed her. Now it is time to lay down her work and rest in her Lord. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years: Arden E. Pomplun, Wautoma; four children: Roger (Diane) Pomplun, Altoona; Roy (Cindy) Pomplun, Wautoma; Holly (James) Polfuss, Neenah; Jim (Kathy) Pomplun, Oshkosh; eight grandchildren: Jennifer (Brian) Loving, Altoona; Jacqueline (Reid) LaDew, Watertown; Collin Pomplun, Altoona; Danielle (Zachary) Whitston, Austin, TX; Kristina (Fernando) Almanza, Appleton; Jacob Pomplun (Amanda), Neenah; Jeremy (Amy) Pomplun, Neenah; Matthew (Nicole) LaCroix, Oshkosh; five great grandchildren: Colton, Carson, Cadence, Braelyn, and Emelia; and one sister: Elaine Gramse, Westfield. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter: Nicole Renee Polfuss; her parents; one brother: Edwin (Delores) Hell; her brother-in-law: Harry Gramse.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. in Hope Lutheran Church, Wautoma, with Rev. Nathan A. Gauerke officiating.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 until 7 p.m.  at Hope Lutheran Church in Wautoma and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services. A Memorial is being established.
