Richard Mark Heid lived a full, long life and leaves his family and friends with many treasured memories. Richard, age 85, Redgranite, Wisconsin died at Juliette Manor in Berlin, Wisconsin on March 20, 2024.
He was born in Appleton in 1939 to Harold and Leona Heid (deceased). Richard graduated high school from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Menasha, WI and began his career at American National Can advancing to being an accomplished chemical engineer. He made many contributions throughout his work life and enjoyed traveling the world for his job. Richard finished his engineering career at ExxonMobil in 1997.
Everyone who knows Richard knew he was quick witted, always ready for a debate, liked to play cards and games, go fishing and hunting, and golf in his spare time. Richard is survived by his wife, Yvonne. Richard and Yvonne “Bonnie” were high school sweethearts and married on May 31, 1958. They have three daughters, Diane Abraham, Kay Sodemann (Bill), and Lisa Kelley (Scott). Richard instilled an appreciation of nature taking his daughters camping, fishing, and hunting, teaching them to waterski and enjoy the outdoors. Annual family vacations included travel across the country to visit many national landmarks and road trips providing adventure and many memories. Richard’s career focus and success provided an example and guidance driving the value of education and hard work onto his daughters.
Richard and Yvonne have nine granddaughters, Stephanie (Seth) Newlin, Ashley Van Heuklon (deceased), Amanda (Austin) Mahn, Jami Sodemann, Sarah (David) Krienke, Emily (Kyle) Amundson, Ruth (Nathaniel) Traver, Rebecca (Kane) Castel and Leah Sodemann, one grandson Brandon (Mikel) Joachim and eight great-grandchildren, Noah, Charlie, Michael, Spencer, Ethan, Ella, Anna, Aiden. Richard was the oldest of four; brother Kenneth (deceased), LuAnn Stefan (deceased), and Jean Marie (Bob) Mueller. He is also survived by his in-laws; Jerry Herbst, Mary (Roger) Krause, Leon “Skip” Herbst.

A private memorial service was held at Ruminski Funeral Home, Redgranite, WI (920)566-2313.
