Mt. Morris appreciates community support for new band shell

Subhead

Dear Editor,

I appreciate you for publishing the article about my presentation to the Wild Rose Kiwanis on Oct. 19 regarding the new band shell at the Mt. Morris Town Park. We are so very fortunate to live in a community that encourages cultural events by providing facilities where interested people can come together and enjoy wholesome live entertainment. The support and guidance of the Mt. Morris town board was essential throughout the planning, designing, and permitting, and construction of the band shell and deserves credit for their assistance in the project.

It must be noted that the donated funds went to the Town of Mt. Morris and not to the Black Hawk Folk Society. The Town created a separate fund to track receipts and disbursements of those funds during the project. The band shell was constructed using only donated funds, materials, and a whole lot of experienced, dedicated volunteer labor.

As a founding member of the Black Hawk Folk Society it has been my great pleasure to be involved in an all-volunteer organization that sponsors live music events at the Mt. Morris Town Park from May through September and at the Mountain View Community Center from October through April.

Please check out our website at blackhawkfolk.org or our Facebook posts and come out to listen to some great entertainment.

Very truly yours,

Patrick Connolly
