Local community member enjoys and appreciates Wautoma Cookie Walk

Subhead

Dear Editor,

It is embarrassing to admit, but I have lived in Wautoma more than three decades, and never participated in the Cookie Walk until this year. With the youngest of our five children now working a weekend job, and having a couple of hours to ourselves, my wife asked me if I wanted to do the Cookie Walk.

A day later, I am still surprised and delighted by the great time we had; and I’ve yet to sample the cookies. The weather was beautiful (the Lord gets the glory for that). The businesses and shops that took part were festive and welcoming. The walkers we met along the way were in good spirits. But most impressive were the owners and employees of the business into which we wandered. They made me proud to be a part of this community.

Each person was friendly and engaging. Never was I given the impression that this event was an unnecessary hassle for them. In fact, I was found myself wanting to shop locally this season; which I did.

So, my appreciation goes to the Argus for sponsoring this event, and to each of the businesses which participated. It is a wonderful holiday tradition that this old-timer just experienced for his first time.
