Wild Rose School Board approves spring athletic coaches, 2022-2023 school calendar and leave of absence requests

The Wild Rose School Board approved leave of absence requests, spring athletic coaches, and the school calendar for 2022-2023 the March 10 meeting held at the school.

Numerous requests for leave of absences were considered, and all were approved for Jaime Wagner, Amber Huffman-Bayer, Caroline Ogden, Nicole Thompson, Juan Pablo Llovet, and Zachary Shulfer.

A number of coaching appointments were also approved by the Board for the spring athletic seasons. They include:

Jasmine Hanson as the high school assistant track coach.

Terry Vercauteren and Ty Chipman as volunteer high school softball coaches.

Matt Wilbert, Kyle Clapper, and Weston Alex as volunteer high school baseball coaches.

Coalter Hanson as a volunteer high school track coach.

The announcement of the retirement of Susan Kolosso as a 5-year-old kindergarten teacher was accepted.

The school calendar for the 2022-23 school year was reviewed and approved, with Sept. 1 being the first day of school and June 2 being the last.

The CESA 5 service contract for the 2022-23 school year was approved for the cost of $704,979.13.

Staffing options for the 2022-23 school year were considered and approved by the board.

Suggested novels for the Humanities in Literature Elective course were considered and approved. They include: Refugee by Alan Gratz, The Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, Ground Zero by Alan Gratz, I am Malala: How One Girl Stood Up for Education and Changed the World by Malala Yousafzai, and The Downstairs Girls by Stacy Lee if there’s time for it.

Approval was granted for the renewal agreement with the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point for Collaborative Clinical Teacher Preparation Programs.

An update on the current school year brought the news that there have been no COVID cases or quarantines for some time.

 

The next Board meeting will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 24. The Scholarship Foundation meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Apr. 14, with a Board meeting immediately to follow.
