Citizens speak with Wild Rose Village Board on Sept. 7th

Subhead

The Wild Rose Village Board had two citizens wishing to address the board when it met Sept. 7.

Stan Soltis was inquiring about the asphalt for the alley behind the Main St. apartments. He’s also interested in possibly laying a six foot wide strip of asphalt between the sidewalk in front of the apartments and Main St. itself, and is in need of the cost of the asphalt. Soltis was informed that he would have to talk to Doug Jirik about the details.

The second citizen to speak with the board was Tara Anderson regarding the celebration of Wild Rose’s sesquicentennial in 2023. She pointed out that the Wild Rose Days Committee will be meeting in October to start planning for the celebration, and wondered if the Village would be contributing something to it. The board informed her that they do want to participate in some way.

Tara Anderson also mentioned the idea that if she received donations for such items as ping pong tables and foosball games, could they be placed in areas around the village for kids to use since there isn’t much opportunity for kids activities in the area.

The board went on to approve:

*Closing a portion of Front Street for the Classic Car Show Street Dance to be held Friday, Sept. 16.

*A donation of services from Bauer Electric for upgrades to the mill restoration.

*The trick or treating time of Sunday, Oct. 30 from 3 to 5 p.m.

*An operator’s license for Khristina Tolbert.

The idea of placing a sidewalk from the Roberts Park pavilion to the gazebo and approved, with the funding coming from donations to the Friends of Roberts Park.

It was recommended that the rental fee for the use of Roberts Park be raised to $125 with a portion being returned when the park is cleaned up and everything left in good shape.

The board discussed a T-Mobile Hometown Grant that the Mill Restoration Committee may be able to apply for.

The board received notice of the Waushara County Public Works Committee meeting recommendation to the County Board regarding ATV/UTV routes.

The next regular board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5.
